-=- IRCDOOR/2 Internet Relay Chat BBS door for OS/2 FAQ -=-
(frequently asked questions about IRCDOOR)
------
Q. Is it possible to run IRCDOOR from a DOS-based BBS?
A. Yes, it's now possible. IRCDOOR package comes with public domain
program Spawn, that can be used to execute the door, and translate
a specified COM port number to a port handle which is required by
the door. Please see section 5.3 for more information on how to
setup IRCDOOR for a DOS-based BBS.
------
Q. I have setup your door program and when i run it it connects to the servers
but then says "User not enough paramaters..". What do i do to fix
this?
A. Put the following command in CONFIG.SYS:
SET HOSTNAME=<your_full_host_name>
This may avoid the problem. The reason is that the door is getting local
host information via TCP/IP, and transmits the info to IRC server. If the
local host name is not set (via SET HOSTNAME command), IRC server will not
accept client registry. With your_full_host_name i mean your full internet
host name including domain. For example:
SET HOSTNAME=myhost.com
sets local hostname to myhost.com.
